Free Republic of Verdis

Basic Laws

Instead of a standard constitution during Verdis’  provisional government, Verdis instead uses a list of Basic Laws which serve as the country’s uncodified constitution until the provisional government disbands and a newly drafted constitution enters into force.

These basic laws are only in place during the provisional government, with more expected to be added

1. The Basic Laws of the Provisional Government of the Free Republic of Verdis shall constitute the supreme law of the Free Republic of Verdis until the representatives of the first General Election have been sworn in and a new constitution has entered into force.

2. The Verdisian Government shall grant citizenship of the Free Republic of Verdis.

3. The Provisional Verdisian Government shall have all the powers it deems appropriate for the promotion and protection of the state of the Free Republic of Verdis.

4. The Verdisian Government shall observe the rules of natural justice.

5. The President of the Free Republic of Verdis may appoint and dismiss the Vice President of the Free Republic of Verdis and Ministers of the Government.

6. The Verdisian Government shall be the only body responsible for the establishment and management of the Free Republic of Verdis.

7. The Verdisian Government shall be chaired by the President of the Free Republic of Verdis who shall be responsible for the work of the Verdisian Government and shall represent the Free Republic of Verdis in its relations with other entities.

8. The President shall delegate special tasks to the Vice President and departmental work to appropriate ministers of the Verdisian Government.

9. The Provisional Government shall be bound by the contracts it enters into.

10. The Provisional Government will call the first General Election whenever it deems appropriate as long as it is on equitable terms

11. The Provisional Government shall disband once the new representatives of the first General Election have been sworn in

Many of these basic laws are expected to change once the provisional government has deemed that Verdis has made enough progress in state development. These basic laws are provisional.
