Today, a delegation consisting of President Jackson; Jeffrey Li, Minister of Finance; and Dušan Đurđević, Representative to the Republic of Serbia attended the back-to-school opening of a preschool in Yopougon, Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

The Government of Verdis co-funded the development aid, particularly on rebuilding bathrooms and water wells for the school. Additionally, Verdis also provided back-to-school accessories such as backpacks to the students.

A representative of Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Education was in attendance, alongside representatives of non-government organisations who also contributed to the preschool’s development, including the IPPDR (Institute of Public Policy and Diplomacy Research), ONG Vision Citoyenne and the Humanitarian Focus Foundation.

“Being here today is very important to us. This project is one of the first that Verdis has undertaken as part of our restarted aid program, and I cannot think of a better place to have undertaken our first project. Meaningful and vibrant communities just like Yopougon represent so much, and I’m grateful that Verdis has the opportunity to work with such a wonderful community”, President Jackson said in a speech.

The Free Republic of Verdis aims to further build a relationship with Côte d’Ivoire as a whole, and also to continue humanitarian programs as part of the country’s core values.
