FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2 years ago today, Verdis was illegally invaded by Croatian authorities, who detained citizens and residents, before forcing them into Croatia, and deporting them.
Since the beginning of the blockade, Verdis has continued to thrive, building international relations, public awareness, and raising tens of thousands in crowdfunding alone in a single week.
Today, the President, Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, and other officials travelled to Verdis’ waters alongside numerous journalists. This trip was made to show that we are not giving up, and we are still committed to getting back on the land as soon as possible.
Verdis is not, and never historically has been part of Croatia. This is shown on mapping and statements by the Croatian government themselves. Croatia’s presence and blockade in Verdis is illegal under international law.
While we continue to condemn Croatia’s illegal blockade, we also want to make it clear that we do hope to have good, cooperative relations in the future, once Croatia begins to respect Verdis’ territorial integrity. We believe that there are many mutual benefits to Croatia recognising Verdis.
